How to ensure your career progresses from paradise

Introduction

The prospect of living in a warm and sunny country, somewhere exotic, maybe near the sea, but still being able to work and importantly, progress your career, certainly has mass appeal.

I’m one of the lucky ones that have made this work and now find that the description above fits me and my life. Since leaving London six years ago, (after buying a property off the Internet) to live permanently in Ibiza, my career as an author, writer and creative strategy planner has progressed from having a ‘secret’ Skype-in number with a London prefix to hide the fact that I was actually living and working abroad, to now, where my resourcefulness at making this foreign life/work balance successful is a bonus to my career. I’ve even set up a new innovations business with three partners still based in the UK, but with international clients and projects it hardly matters where I am any more. People, clients and otherwise, are fascinated with what I do and how I do it. So I thought it might be something I could share.

In this blog I will give out tips and hints about how to achieve this for yourself, how diversifying and keeping abreast of technology is the ‘Great Enabler’ and post the occasional (and rather sickening) photo of my varied and beautiful work locations, as added incentive to take the plunge and become a remote worker yourself.
